Good Tech Campaign (GTC) by Citizen Digital Foundation aims to help growing children and young adults build sharp information literacy skills, so they can use the internet critically, and make the most of it while avoiding the harms and pitfalls. GTC has peer-support components designed to support adolescents’ digital wellbeing and mental health challenges that arise from a range of direct and indirect online harms. This multi-faceted campaign also aims to equip parents and educators recognise new forms of harms that hinder children’s growth and development, so that they can support children to navigate online spaces safely and responsibly.
Student courses
GTC offers four course components as part of the holistic programme.
You could earn a Verified Credential (VC) for every course you
complete, with skills linked under the globally recognised
WEF Education 4.0 Framework. If you wish to opt-in for VCs, download the QS Passport App on
your phone, create your account, and connect with “CDF Good Tech
Campaign”. As you complete each course, you will be eligible for VCs
thatshowcase your achievements, and give you a marked edge in future
educational and career pursuits.
Note: You can take these short courses without VCs, and get relevant
certificates/acknowledgements associated with each course as
well.

The Digital Champions programme is a focused 74-minute online
course prepared by
Young Leadership for Active Citizenship (YLAC)
and presented in Malayalam by Citizen Digital Foundation, to
address emerging issues faced by children online. The
programme aims to equip you with different aspects of digital
safety and well-being, and equip you with the tips and tricks
to deal with potential threats and risks on the internet.

This 70-minute online course is designed by
Point of View (POV) for
Citizen Digital Foundation to help you navigate gender-based
online harassment in India. It looks at how common online
bullying is, the different ways it happens, how people fight
back, how to stop it, and what the law and communities are
doing to tackle it. You’ll learn how to spot it, handle it,
and speak up against it, all while understanding your rights,
boundaries, and the impact it can have on people.

CDF in association with Nadi Foundation, offers the first-ever Mental Health First Responder programme in Kerala. The course aims to give all attendees a broad overview of tech-induced mental health challenges, as well as select and train suitable students as certified Mental Health First Responders. The two modules of this targeted course are:
- Building resilience and practising self-care in the digital age.
- Engaging effectively as a Mental Health First Responder for peers.
Skills
- Develop basic understanding of mental health.
- Recognise early warning signs of distress, bullying or self-harm among peers.
- Understand active listening, empathy, non-judgemental communication techniques.
- Understand reporting avenues and age-appropriate grounding techniques.
- Understand the roles, responsibilities, boundaries and ethical considerations of being a Mental Health First Responder.
Note: Students who meet the eligibility criteria and successfully complete the two-level assessments will be certified as Mental Health First Responders.
This component of the Good Tech Campaign is contingent upon pre-agreed arrangements with Psychopark based on their availability, and only for Trivandrum-based associating entities. It is a one-day field-visit to Psychopark - a psychology-themed edutainment park based in Trivandrum. The visit aims to provide a holistic understanding of age-appropriate psychological concepts in an interactive environment.
Considering the overall performance, learnings and skills acquired, selected students will be awarded the GOOD TECH CHAMP badge. This badge recognises the student’s understanding of addressing various online harms and the reporting mechanisms available online. Badge holders act as ambassadors of the Good Tech Campaign, promoting healthy digital practices within their schools.
Students who earn the Good Tech Champ badge will demonstrate leadership and organisational skills, resourcefulness, and will be aware of signposting for support.
Good Tech Campaign components
This campaign follows a multi-dimensional path to make the online world safer for growing children and young adults. Through its various components - Mental Health First Responder programme, Good Tech Guru, Good Tech Squad, and Litt, the campaign aims to build safer and trustworthy digital environments for the digital natives, while building their abilities to navigate it more critically and responsibly.
Mental Health First Responder
Certified Mental Health First Responder programme with verifiable credentials aligned to the WEF Education 4.0 framework.
Good Tech Guru
Train-the-Trainer (ToT) programme for selected teachers, focused on information literacy. Trained teachers go on to conduct training sessions for more students and communities.
Good Tech Squad
Peer-led campaign promoting online child-safety and mental health awareness. GTS has engaged 1,771 children, sensitised 1,663 parents and 16 doctors, and led over 205 resource downloads so far.
Litt
CDF's free and open learning platform that offers certified courses on online safety as part of the programme. The platform also offers a range of information literacy and data privacy short courses.
